Trial Room ("the App") provides an AI-powered virtual try-on experience ("the Service") to merchants who use Shopify to power their stores, enabling customers to visualize clothing, jewelry, and accessories using uploaded photos. This Privacy Policy describes how personal information is collected, used, and shared when you install or use the App in connection with your Shopify-supported store. It is provided by ShopOS, the developer of Trial Room ("ShopOS," "we," "us," or "our").

By using Trial Room, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.


Personal Information the App Collects

We collect the following types of personal information to provide and improve the Trial Room Service:


Information from Shopify

When you install the App, we access certain information from your Shopify account via Shopify APIs, including:

Product Information (read_products): Details about products in your store, such as descriptions, images, and tags, to enable virtual try-on functionality.

Store Information (read_shop): Store name, domain, and settings to integrate the App with your Shopify theme.

Analytics Data (read_analytics): Anonymized data about customer interactions with try-on features, such as engagement rates and products tried, to provide merchant-triggered KPIs.


Information Collected from Shoppers

When shoppers use Trial Room on your Shopify store, we collect:

Uploaded Photos: Images uploaded by shoppers for virtual try-on sessions, processed to generate AI-powered visualizations of products.

Device Data: Information such as IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers to optimize performance and ensure compatibility.

Usage Data: Anonymized data on interactions, including the number of customers who clicked or used try-on features, to provide analytics to merchants.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies: Cookies, pixels, or similar technologies track usage patterns and enhance functionality. Shoppers can manage cookie preferences through their browser settings.


How We Collect Information

We collect personal information directly from shoppers (e.g., photo uploads), through your Shopify account (e.g., product data), or using:

Cookies: Data files on a shopper’s device to remember actions or preferences. Learn more at http://www.allaboutcookies.org.

Log Files: Track actions in the App, collecting data like IP address, browser type, and timestamps.

Web Beacons/Tags/Pixels: Electronic files that record browsing behavior within the App.


How We Use Your Personal Information

We use personal information to:

Deliver Virtual Try-On: Process uploaded photos to generate realistic product visualizations.

Improve the App: Analyze anonymized usage data to optimize performance, reduce loading times (targeting sub-2-second idle time), and enhance AI accuracy (targeting 90% accuracy).

Provide Analytics to Merchants: Share anonymized, aggregated data (e.g., engagement rates, try-on counts) with Shopify merchants, controlled by merchant settings, to improve store performance.

Communicate with You: Respond to merchant inquiries, provide support, or notify you about App or policy updates.

Ensure Compliance: Comply with legal obligations, such as India’s DPDP Act, and protect our rights and users’ safety.


Sharing Your Personal Information

We do not sell personal information. We may share information as follows:

With Shopify Merchants: Anonymized analytics (e.g., try-on engagement, click rates) to help merchants optimize their stores, as permitted by Shopify’s Terms of Use and controlled by merchant settings.

Service Providers: Third-party subprocessors process data to support the App’s functionality (e.g., AI processing). These providers are bound by Shopify’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy to protect data and use it only for specified purposes.

Legal Compliance: We may disclose information to comply with laws, respond to legal requests (e.g., subpoenas), or protect our rights, in accordance with applicable regulations.

Business Transfers: If ShopOS undergoes a merger, acquisition, or sale, personal information may be transferred with safeguards to maintain privacy.


Your Choices and Rights

Merchants

Data Access and Deletion: Request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information by contacting hi@shopos.ai.

Marketing Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in our communications.


Shoppers

Photo Management: Uploaded photos are stored in the browser cache for the session and deleted afterward. You can delete photos via App settings.

Cookies: Manage cookie preferences through your browser, though disabling cookies may limit functionality.

Data Rights: Request access, correction, or deletion of your data by contacting hi@shopos.ai.


European Residents (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have GDPR rights, including:

• Accessing, correcting, or deleting your personal information.

• Data portability or objecting to processing.

• Filing a complaint with your local data protection authority.We process data based on consent (e.g., photo uploads) or legitimate interests (e.g., providing the Service, analytics), in compliance with GDPR and India’s DPDP Act.


Data Retention

Shopper Photos: Stored in the browser cache for the try-on session and deleted afterward, with no permanent storage.

Usage and Device Data: Retained in anonymized form for analytics, as permitted by Shopify’s Terms of Use and applicable laws.

Merchant Data: Product and store information is retained as long as necessary to provide the Service or comply with legal obligations (e.g., DPDP Act, GDPR).

• Upon request, we delete personal information unless required for legal or regulatory purposes.


Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures, including encryption and secure data handling, to protect personal information. Photos are processed securely with no permanent storage, in compliance with India’s DPDP Act, IT Act, and GDPR. However, no online service is fully secure, and you share data at your own risk.


International Data Transfers

ShopOS is based in India, with data stored on servers in India. If you use Trial Room from outside India (e.g., EEA, US), your data may be transferred to India or other countries where our service providers operate. We use Standard Contractual Clauses or other safeguards to ensure compliance with GDPR and other applicable laws.


Third-Party Links and Services

Trial Room integrates with Shopify stores and may link to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before interacting.


Children’s Privacy

Trial Room is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn such data has been collected, we will delete it promptly.


Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the App, with the updated policy posted at https://shopos.ai/privacy-policy-trial-room/ and the “Last Updated” date revised.
